I have been on a Christian fiction hiatus for about a year now, but in the last couple of months, I've been trying to ease myself back into this genre. Christian fiction is my favorite genre, but I felt that some of the books were becoming boring, with many similar tropes reappearing. Furthermore, I think this genre of fiction has so many restrictions that get in the way of writing a good story. However, A Time to Treasure did not disappoint me; it was a joy to read. I love that the hero and heroine were an older couple, and their faith was a natural part of their lives. It seemed as if the author was not trying to force her beliefs on the reader, but rather to tell the reader in a loving way that here are two people who have ups and downs, but they trust in Jesus to see them through it all. The lessons in this book are ones that I can apply to my life. I would love to see Juliette's books in audio format because they are so pleasant. I imagine that an excellent narrator would really enhance this story and others she has written.
Christianity is more than throwing in a reference to God here and there, it's a lifestyle and a relationship. For a story to really be Christian fiction it needs to be more than just a clean story with a few references to God thrown in here and there. Juliette presents characters who truly live a Christian life. Even in the midst of rough times, their focus remains on the One Who can help. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and have highlighted things to think about later & things that encourage me in my daily walk. I am anxiously waiting for the next story.
This is the story of two widowed people that find each other. Neither was looking for love, but that's what they found. God led them to each other and helped them realize what they had. They aren't what we would think of as alike, but they are just what they each needed. When God is involved, anything is possible. I was given an ARC edition of this book, but the review is my own. I think anyone that enjoys Christian romance will love this book.
I really loved the way the author described Wendy and Bruce, including their first loves and how they missed them. But God had something more in mind for them, and their new story is so dramatic and lovely, catching them both by surprise! This is definitely a book you will want to read, and I hope you enjoy it, too.
Juliette just keeps giving us great reads. A Time To Treasure proves that you don't have to be young to experience the thrill of a new love and to be indecisive about whether or not you should take this relationship to the next level. After all what you do now affects more people that you love. Wendy and her new love both have problem children, who were affected adversely by the deaths of a parent. How would they react to a new love for Mum or Papa?I
As always Juliette Duncan does not disappoint. I am in the age group of the 2 main characters and it was so nice that out of this story, it shows that romance and being in love is not just for the young.I was captivated from the first page, the characters are so real as well as the circumstances. It almost seemed like someone you know was telling you their story.I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I do adore a romance story of an older generation...when Bruce and Wendy meet they click immediately, but she lives in Australia and he lives in Texas! What can possibly come from this holiday romance? I seriously enjoyed their struggle to find a balance between their family obliges and their new found love.I immediately pre ordered the next book in this series.....cannot wait to read it!
This was such a wonderful read. As a reader for Juliette Duncan's books, I must say I really enjoyed this one. This was about an older couple world's apart physically but so close in faith, morals and love of family. This book didn't disappoint in the Bible references and interwoven faith. Can't wait for her next book, "A Time to Care".
